Z Club and FDKAI Cruise

by RotorDave....pictures by Glen, Warren and me.
The Nissan 300Z club we nice enough to invite us along to a cruise. At first, it seemed like a shit idea on their part, because at the Greenlane rendevous point, the FDKAI club had more cars than they did!! Our 7 FDs were joined by 6 Zeds, a Supra and a Lotus Elise.

We cruised to the Papakura BP Motorway petrol station to wait for some more Zeds. Evidently, a few of them had been mislaid when a sharp eyed mariner mistook one of them for a minky whale and harpooned it!!!
Picked up a few more Zeds on the way.

Great pictures by Warren.

Then RotorDave got us to move to a clear spot around the back for some more photos.
Eventually some more Zeds showed up, after removing the harpoon from their mates car.

Finally around 15 Zeds showed up. Then we blasted off to Miranda beach, on the Thames coast.
Home of the best fish and chip shop in the land....and a mighty fine pub too.

7 FDs and 14 Zeds. We found that it was hard to pass the truck-like Zeds on the narrow roads....especially when they kept hitting the brakes big time before all the corners!!! Aiiiiii!!

Ahhhhh.....the Bay View Hotel. While the ZX softcocks went for their fish & chips,
the FDKAI hardmen headed to the bar for a quick coldie! (only one, of course!!)

Glen, just can't wait for another beer........

The view from the bar. Warren regailed us with stories of yesteryear, and new member Ian told us of his first experiences of the FD's sequential turbo system (spin out big time!)

The ZX boys were still stuffing their faces with fish, so we decided to bail.
The ride back to Auckland was MUCH quicker, without the ZX mobile chicanes holding us back.

Steve R perfected the "almost-wrote-off my-car" ultra high speed passing manuvoer,
much to the amazement of a elderly motorist on the way home from Sunday Sermon.

All in all, a most excellent day....all jokes aside, thanks to the Z club for inviting us along,
and we look forward to the next outing!
